Projektbezogene GIS-Anwendung an Schulen -Das Klosterseeprojekt am Gymnasium Grafing

A school project in the 11th form of the secondary school formed the context of an extracurricular activity which dealt with ecological questions in the catchment area of a popular swimming lake in the east of Munich. In the course of the cooperation project between the school, a university and a private-sector enterprise, data were gathered, interpreted, edited and presented with the help of an easily learnable GIS. GIS has taken an important position in the curricula of schools under the keywords prevocational training, media-, presentation- and modelling competence. The project proved that the application of GIS is particularly useful in connection with field- and archive work.
