The necessity to establish a new, integral, market-oriented technology management basis cannot be adequately stressed. The time has come to create the conditions to enable the transformation by competent technical managers of innovative ideas into successful products through targeted activities on a wide front in research, teaching and industrial practice. It is not only the virtuosity of the orchestra that counts, but also the creativity of the conductor.
