Review of the genus Pseudognaptorina Kaszab from China (Coleoptera, Tenebrionidae)

The genus Pseudognaptorina Kaszab is reviewed. A new species is described: P. flata sp. nov. from Sichuan, China. A key to the known species is given along with a distribution map. The genus Pseudognaptorina was established by Kaszab (1977) for P. nepalica from Nepal. According to the latest classification by Medvedev (2001), which was also adopted by Medvedev & Merkl (2002) and Bouchard et al. (2005), this genus belongs to the subtribe Gnaptorinina of Blaptini, which includes 5 subtribes. Within Gnaptorinina, it resembles Gnaptorina Reitter (1887), but differs in the following characters: spurs of protibia subequal in length; plantar surface of male protarsomeres I-III and at least mesotarsomere I with hair brushes; aedeagus with parameres moderately elongate, at least 1.8 times as long as wide. It is also related to Montagona Medvedev (1998), but can be distinguished by the following characters: epipleural carina visible from above at anterior part and apex; elytra without longitudinal carina orsmooth bulge; ventral surface of male protarsomeres I-III and at least mesotarsomere I with hair brushes; lobes of ovipositor transverse.
