Species of the genus Heteralonia Bezzi, 1921 from China (Díptera: Bombyliidae)

The following four new species of the genus Heteralonia from China are described and illustrated: Heteralonia anemosyris sp. nov., Heteralonia cnecos sp. nov., Heteralonia nigripilosa sp. nov., and Heteralonia ochros sp. nov. A key to the species of the genus Heteralonia from China is presented. The genus Heteralonia Bezzi belongs to the tribe Exoprosopini of subfamily Anthracinae (Evenhuis and Greathead, 1999). It is easily be differentiated from Exoprosopa Macquart by the following features: wing pattern with veins bordered with a different colour to centres of cells, frequently with isolated spots; ejaculatory apódeme of male weak, concealed between gonocoxites (Greathead and Evenhuis, 1997, 2001). The genus Heteralonia includes 128 known species, of which 29 species are from the Palaearctic Region and 27 species are from the Oriental Region (Evenhuis and Greathead, 1999). The following four species are known to occur in China: H. chinensis Evenhuis, 1979; H. gressitti Evenhuis, 1979; H. polyphleba Evenhuis, 1979; H. sytshuana (Paramonov, 1928).
