A new species of Phyllodromia Zetterstedt, 1837 (Insecta, Diptera, Empididae, Hemerodromiinae) from Vanuatu

Phyllodromia variabilis n. sp. (Diptera, Empididae, Hemerodromiinae) isdescribed from Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu and provisionally assigned to PhyllodromiaZetterstedt, 1837. Systematic relationships with other Phyllodromia species andwith the closely related genus Chelipoda Macquart, 1823 are discussed and itis concluded that the new species is probably more closely related to species ofPhyllodromia from New Zealand than those of the Northern Hemisphere.
