摘要

Nevirapine is an antiretroviral therapy (ART) agent used to treat HIV-1 infection, and one which has been used extensively in helping to reduce mother-to-child HIV infection at birth. Unfortunately, the single-dose, single-agent nature of this therapy administered to both mother and child makes it particularly likely to encourage the development of nevirapine resistance in the individuals thus treated, a factor which can seriously complicate future attempts at HIV therapy.
