Optimal design of an elastic circular plate on a unilateral elastic foundation. II: Approximate problems

Optimal design of an elastic simply supported axisymmetric plate, resting on a unilateral elastic foundation with respect to the variable thickness of the plate and the stiffness of the unilateral foundation is presented in Part I. In Part II the approximate state problem and approximate problems of the optimal design are introduced. The existence of a subsequence of solutions of the approximate problems of optimal design converging to the solution of continuous problem of optimal design is established, and the convergence of the corresponding solutions of approximate state problems to the corresponding solution of continuous state problem is proved.
