Ozone destruction major cause of warming!- Part 2

Warming of the stratosphere is caused by the reaction of ultraviolet light with ozone. However, loss of ozone in the stratosphere will cause it to cool and the earth to warm. The direct effect of ozone concentration on stratospheric temperature is shown in Fig- 1. Whenever ozone concentration drops, the temperature drops and vice versa. This effect can be seen from 1995 to 2005 when there were no large volcanic eruptions like that seen with El Chichon and Pinatubo that increased stratospheric temperatures due to release of fine particulate.
