What are the experiences gained from clean fuels projects?

In Europe, gasoline and diesel fuels specifications have undergone dramatic changes. Collectively, new fuels are called "clean fuels." Any gasoline sulfur specification less than 50-ppm sulfur (S) is generically called ultra-low-sulfur gasoline (ULSG), and any diesel specification less than 50-ppm S is called ultra-low-sulfur diesel (ULSD). These designations differentiate new specifications from the 350-500 ppm specs from the early '90s that were dubbed low-sulfur fuels. The degree of difficulty to meet a clean fuels specification depends on the feedstock type and required sulfur specification.
