For over five decades,centrifugal compressors have benefited from mechanical field technology.The early compressors of the 1950s often struggled with cumbersome labyrinth sealing and gas eductor arrangements.But in the 1960s,many labyrinth configurations were rapidly displaced by a variety of liquid-lubricated seals that introduced small amounts of seal oil between either the sealing faces or the small gaps between stationary and floating sealing bushings.
