The Mary Kay O'Connor Process Safety Center (MKOPSC) was established in March 1995.Ten years after the Center was created with the express purpose to develop and implement education,research and service programs related to process safety,it is appropriate to ask:What progress has been made,what lessons have been learned,what challenges remain to be overcome and what future initiatives are needed? It must also be noted that the 20th anniversary for the worst chemical disaster in Bhopal,India,resulting in over 3,000 fatalities and over 100,000 injuries,was observed in December 2004.
