North America's HPI to see hefty jump in planned turnarounds

The number of planned unit maintenance shutdowns in the North American hydrocarbon processing industry has been decreasing in recent years, but that number is expected to increase significandy beyond 2008. At the end of 2006, data from market researcher Industrial Info Resources (www. industrialinfo.com) showed that about 257 units were planned to be taken offline for maintenance repair and overhaul. However, for 2008 and beyond, the company is tracking a total of 1,282 planned turnarounds in the industry.
