Poor processability of first-generation linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) has prevented full penetration of this polymer into the high-pressure LDPE market. Significant catalyst and process developments have improved the processability of PEs. Thus, these resins now have broad bimodal molecular weight distributions (MWDs).
