Monitor microbiological populations in cooling water

Cooling water provides a perfect environment for microbiological (MB) organisms- a hospitable temperature range, a constant pH and a plentiful food supply from the chemical treatment. Most systems use a biocide to control MB and routinely test the population of MB organisms to confirm efficacy. Testing haas become extremely important due to the risks if high populations of Legionella are present in evaporative cooling towers. Several methods are available, each with advantages and limitations.
