Machinery quality assessment on twin-screw compressors

Machinery quality assessment (MQA) is similar to bid conditioning, and both relate to structured efforts. In each case, the effort is aimed at failure avoidance, risk assessment or determining the long-term value of equipment or components under consideration. The structured effort of MQA is an extension of bid conditioning. Both are activities that require high purchase selectivity. Initial cost and delivery schedule are not as important as safety and reliability. True reliability is designed in, not added on. Since it is designed in, the cost of reliability is an upfront expense, not a deferrable activity or cost. Without MQA, machines are decidedly more prone to failure than with MQA. An experience with twin-screw compressors serves to illustrate the matter.
