Italian company Special Tanks recently patented a coating technology for the surfaces of shell-and-tube heat exchang- ers (STHEs) that reduces the effect of fouling and deposition. The coating, Shell Tube High Performance (STHP), was created under a collaboration between Special Tanks, Politecnico di Milano, and Universita Statale di Milano.
