The safety life cycle (SLC) is comprised of analysis, realization and operation phases. To manage an SLC is an engineering process to specify, design, implement, operate, modify and maintain a safety instrumented system (SIS) for achieving overall functional safety. The analysis phase is the most important step for engineering and designing a suitable SIS for the specific process requirement.
