GE has announced that its energy business has entered into an agreement to acquire approximately 90% of Converteam, a provider of electrification and automation equipment and systems. The transaction, worth in the region of US$ 3.2 billion, is expected to close during third quarter 2011. Converteam's senior management will retain a 10% stake in the company.
