摘要

Immunization to prevent infection with high-oncogenic Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) types represents the most promising strategy for prevention of one of the most common sexually transmitted infections worldwide. ' Vaccination can reduce the substantial health and economic burden of HPV-associated diseases, such as cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), cervical and other cancers, genital warts, and recurrent respiratory papil-lomatosis (RRP). Numerous published studies have concluded that HPV vaccination is highly efficacious and cost-effective in preadolescent girls.3'5 In Italy, the Ministry of Health has introduced HPV vaccination in the national immunization program, and it is provided free for girls aged 11 or 12.
