Baby Cream is a cream-type southernpea (Vigna unguiculata) cultivar released by the US Department of Agriculture that produces excellent yields of small, delicate peas. This cultivar, which is adapted for production throughout the southeastern United States, was developed by pedigree breeding from a cross between White Acre and breeding line US-432. Baby Cream, which is more resistant to lodging than many cream-type cultivars, produces dry pods in Charleston, South Carolina, in 63-74 days (7-14 days earlier than White Acre). The results of 5 years (1999 and 2001-04) of replicated field trials at Charleston indicated that the yield potential of Baby Cream is similar to that of Green Pixie. In trials conducted throughout the southern United States during 2000-03, the yield of Baby Cream averaged 103% of the yield of Early Acre.
