摘要

The grow-your-own behemoth has reached such size that waiting lists for allotments in some areas are groaning under the pressure of thousands of applicants. The trend has been cemented by the positive coverage from celebrity chefs including Jamie Oliver and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. But with demand for allotments severely outstripping supply, local authorities are increasingly coming under fire over provision. it is not an easy debate, explains King's College London academic and author of the Local Government Association guidance Growing in the Community, Richard Wiltshire.
