Reformed society: ANDREW FISHER TOMLIN, CHAIRMAN, SOCIETY OF GARDEN DESIGNERS

Andrew Fisher Tomlin is the first Society of Garden Designers (SGD) chairman who has come to the profession from a second career. Predecessor Ian Kitson stood down iast month before the end of his three-year term to hand over to Fisher Tomlin, "because there is such a positive energy to the Society". Much of that energy is from the former marketing man turned garden-designer. The SGD is 25 years old next year Fisher Tomlin says membership "is growing at a phenomenal rate" - it is 1,200, an increase of 35 per cent in the past year. "People have to be professional and be seen to be professional".
