You may have thought last winter, with its icy temperatures and repeatedly deep, long-lying snow, was challenging enough. Well, the white stuff may not have been so troublesome this year (yet), but for many turf managers the intensity of rainfall hasmeant cancelled matches and loss of income.In low lying areas, where the water table is naturally high, and certainly in flood plains, the results of the past two months' exceptional rainfall will have been beyond the control of most facility managers and turf professionals. Elsewhere, however, problems with standing water have still led to rescheduled fixtures, while many school grounds have in effect been "closed for the season".
