With courses at every level, the option of becoming a garden designer or landscaper is open to everyone from school leavers to career changers. The massive coverage given to last week's RHS Chelsea Flower Show suggests that interest in garden and landscape design is as high as ever. And while the downturn has not left the sector unscathed, trainers report both continued popularity of courses and opportunities for students at the end. Garden design is unusual among green space industries in having several independent training providers outside the mainstream college sector offering diploma-level courses, including four in London alone.
