摘要

Over forthcoming weeks, Grower will feature a series of scientific articles on fertiliser and plant mineral nutrition. In the first part of the series, due to be published in the 17 April issue of Grower, Dr Rob Liliywhite and Dr Clive Rahn of WarwickHRI will consider the energy required for fertiliser production and the greenhouse gases released in its use. It is estimated that the production, transportation and use of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilisers consumes about one per cent of all the energy generated globally - which is equivalent to the energy required to power Las Vegas 24 hours a day for more than 30 years.
