Field horticulture growers face a number of significant challenges in the current climate. An increasing number of consumers now demand locally sourced produce that has been grown in a sustainable environment using natural products, yet still deliverssatisfactory results. This is where compost can be a great asset to the grower. Recent scientific trials have shown that compost made from garden waste such as grass cuttings, prunings and leaves can have significant commercial and environmental benefits for growers. It can improve soil health and fertility, reduce the need for inorganic fertilisers and even help to cut down on climate change effects by keeping carbon locked in the soil.
