This year's Woking Nursery Exhibition will keep the focus firmly on plants, writes Jez Abbott It's nearly 30 years old but Woking Nursery Exhibition keeps getting younger, according to the show's chair Rachel Blakey. "Timing is everything with plant shows, and ours is spot on," she says of the 9 July event. "Plants have been grown naturally, not forced, as would be the case if it was earlier in the year. This gives the exhibition an amazingly fresh and vibrant feel." And "plants are the stars", she says of the show, which was started in 1979 by a group of nurserymen in the Woking area. It is the longest running plants-only show, and part of its youthful sheen is down to the new plants, exhibitors and themes every year.
