The industry still needs to get behind the Voluntary Initiative to avoid a pesticide tax, Geoff Sawyer reports Yet another tax was heading for ornamental, amenity and edible horticulture and agriculture until the Crop Protection Association (CPA) wasable to come up with an alternative. The story began in late 2000 when the Government asked the CPA to present a package of measures that could be used to achieve the environmental benefits on pesticide pollution Parliament wanted to see. The alternative was a pesticide tax - something all sectors of the growing and farming industry wanted to avoid.
