Technology from Australia is helping the MCC's famous ground improve facilities and extend earning potential. On most days, the Lord s pitch is one of the largest empty spaces in London. The world s best-known cricket ground used to have a poor recordfor rain stoppages. But thats all changed since the Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI) and Southport contractor J Mallinson combined to relay the outfield in the 2002/03 off season. Now, the home of cricket is going a step further, using STRI as a consultant to develop drop-in portable pitches on the adjacent Lord s Nursery Ground.
