One hundred million pounds may sound like a lot of money, but that's how much capital expenditure is required to get Leeds' parks up to scratch, according to the city's director of leisure services Denise Preston. Preston also wants to see a further ￡40m spent on sports facilities - the city currently has 1,200 football and rugby teams playing on 280 pitches - and ￡10m spent on its 200 playgrounds.
