摘要

The paper presents campaign comparison of two converters of Katowice steelworks SA running on TBM and LD technology and analysis of selected metallurgical parametres affecting the furnace life. It was found that the greater life of refractory lining of TBM converters is caused by: temperatures of metal bath advantageous for the lining life, optimal basicity of slags and smaller deviations from optimal values, blowing smaller amount of oxygen and rare use of correction blast which is more advantageous for the life of refractories. Moreover the TBM slag contents 4-6 percent less of FeO than the LD one.
