A new generation in brass plating of steel wire for tire cord

The brass plating technology plays a key role in the steel cord manufacturing process with a dominant influence on the material qualities. The presented new generation of brass plating technology considers the physical and chemical fundamentals of an electrolytic brass plating process. The fully controlled technology consists of individual electrolytic galvanizing cells which are completely separated against each other both mechanically and well electrically. The decoupling of the bathes was achieved by a special design. Rotating double rolls guarantee a permanent contact. The new brass plating system was compared with applied standard systems, and a multi wire line with 40 wires is shown.
