Principles of temper rolling and test results of black and hot-dip zinc coated strip rolled in industrial skin-pass mill are presented. A clear difference of behaviour of zinc coatings and steel core in the case of deformation transfer and surface roughness of rolls was found. Small drafts during temper rolling cause that general used methods of rolling force calculation need to be used very carefully because calculated and measured values of roll separating force are essential different.
