Main research directions of improving purity and quality of steel carried out in the Chair of metallurgy are shortly discussed. The research work includes first of all calcium treatment of steel and its effect on modification of non-metallic inclusions, desulfurization, reducing of steel impurity by non-metallic inclusions and on better preparation of steel for continuous casting.
