Application of the spreadsheet for solution of the Gibbs minimization problem

摘要

Fundamentals theory of the non-stoichiometric algorithm of the Gibbs Energy Minimization Method (GEM) and application of the spreadsheet for the closed systems of equilibria calculations has been presented. GEM algorithm comes with a lot of commercial thermochemical software integrated with thermodynamic data base but application of spreadsheet can be useful for solutions of complex and untypical equilibrium problems. Advantage of the spreadsheet application: is clarity and possibility to observe particular stages of calculation process and also easiness to introduce modifications without change of its essential structure. Examples of application GEM algorithm for modelling of the carbothermic silica reduction process have been presented.
