Three problems solved last years in Establishment of Materials Engineering: mathematical model of laser-melting of upper layer of steel, superficial laser-melting of SW7M steel and laser-alloying of ordinary steel by means of tantalum are presented. According to assumptions thermal field distribution perpendicular to shift direction of laser beam and to sample surface by finite element method was calculated. Calculations for high-speed 5W18 steel was made and very good compatibility with experimental data was obtained. Remained two problems relate to superficial melting and alloing of steel where laser technique is very effective utilized.
