Marian E. Koshland Integrated Natural Science Center: Unique mechanical system among highlights of energy-efficient, environmentally friendly facility on Pennsylvania college's campus

When the space required by the natural-sciences departments at Haverford College in Haverford, Pa., began to exceed the space available in their respective facilities, faculty members and administrators came together to determine a solution. Recognizing that most science careers require knowledge outside an individual's field of study, the planners decided to co-locate all of the college's natural-sciences departments, creating a learning environment that not only is state of the art, but that promotes interaction among degree disciplines. The result was the Marian E. Koshland Integrated Natural Science Center (KINSC).
