Most theories of the functions of the frontopolar cortex (FPC; also known as rostral PFC, or Brodmann's area 10) are based on neuroimaging of humans, which is the commonest source of data. Some are based on human lesion work, and some are predicated on both lesion work and neuroimaging [1]. Tsujimoto et al.'s [2] theory is important because it is the first account that takes its starting point from neurophysiological work with nonhuman primates.
