Architectural Object Oriented Petri Net Modeling for Software Agent Templates

In this paper, an architectural software agent-based model has been presented. The proposed model is based on object oriented Petri nets, which are a major class of colored Petri nets. The proposed object Petri oriented net model consists of three architectural layers. Agent templates, formalized in Petri net semantics, are proposed to model the components of a mobile agent system. An agent template describes a set of actions, a set of rules, which govern the agent communications and an event that captures the agent mobility. Each layer of the system has been modeled by a Petri net module. The upper layers of the model consist of transitions, which are the encapsulated versions of the Petri net modules in a lower level layer. Communications among agents are defined via interfaces that are specified by the agent template. Formal definitions are presented to support our modeling approach for multi agent systems.
