摘要

a.Residual stress and distortion can be minimised simultaneously by adopting weld sequence technique. This technique is an appropriate and cost effective technology considering that this negates the need for change of design, material, consumables, jigs & fixtures, post weld heat treatment etc. b.In order to realise maximum improvement in fatigue life of cyclically loaded structures, combination of weld contour & surface dressing followed by needle pin peening is recommended.
