Germany leads steady recovery of Northern Europe

The German economy is now in clear recovery mode and moving ahead faster than most other European economies. Last year, driven by rising domestic demand, GDP grew by 3.5%. This was the highest growth the country had seen since reunification in 1992. This followed a 4.7% slump in 2009 as the global downturn took hold.
