Magnetochemistry,the study of the magnetic properties of paramagnetic chemical compounds,here restricted to d-block metal compounds,has developed enormously since the very early and iconic theoretical work,pre-war,by Van Vleck.Australian and New Zealand chemists have played a major pioneering role in this area of synthetic and physico-chemical measurement chemistry.
