Non-platinum-based dihydrogen activation at near ambient temperature remains a barrier to widespread use of H2 for mass transport applications and this,together with the need for environmentally friendly paths to its production,have contributed to the intense activity directed towards understanding the chemistry underlying H2-utilising hydrogenases.
