GREENHOUSE CONSTRUCTION

We build our own greenhouses for a number of reasons including low cost, satisfaction, expand ability and perhaps special features. I'll briefly list a few considerations then get into construction. We build or buy a greenhouse to control the environment where our plants live. As different plants require different environments, our plans should consider what we want to grow and in which seasons we want them to grow, or do we want to just sustain our plants for future enjoyment. One good idea is to limit our plantings to those with similar needs. Unless you are prepared to divide your greenhouse,you will find it difficult to grow many orchids (some exceptions) which like high humidity (since most grow on the bark of living trees) at the same time enjoying cactus (which like to be dry). Other, more minor differences, can be accommodated with differing watering schedules and placement or shading within the greenhouse.
