Profile morphology and pedon development in relation to physiography

Any change in geomorphic process influences the pedogenic processes (Gerrad, 1981). The change in colour, texture, soil reaction, salinity, etc., have been reported by many authors (Roy and Rudra ,1974). This investigation deals with the variations that occur in the different physiographic positions of Kayathar block. The survey was conducted in different catenary sequences of Kayathar Block of Tuticorin District of Tamil Nadu. The area lies between 77 deg 39'30'' and 78 deg 1'4" east longitude and 8 deg 57'2" and 9 deg 11'8" north latitude. The temperature regime is isomegathermic and moisture regime is ustic.
