摘要

The gram pod borer, Helicoverpa armigera (Hub.) is the key pest on several crops including pulses like chickpea and pigeonpea. In recent years, containing this pest has become very difficult as repeated applications of once effective chemica/insecticides has filed to give the desired effect. Indiscriminate use of chemicals has resulted in pesticide resistance (McCaffery et al., 1989), To obviate this problem, a logical alternative favoured in the existing situation has been the Integrated Pest Management. In this context, microbial control, principally by Nuclear Polyhedrosis Viruses (NPV) has been greatly emphasized.
