摘要

Combining ability for eight characters was studied using line x tester mating design involving 4 lines and 5 testers in safflower. Combining ability analysis revealed that gca variances were significant for days to maturity, days to 50 percent flowering and plant height, whereas, sea variances were significant for the characters viz., oil content, test weight and seed yield, indicating the preponderance of non- additive gene action in the inheritance of these characters. The study also revealed thatManjira and A-1 among the females, while GMU 2914-15 and GMU 6915 among males were superior and consistent general combiners for seed yield and majority of its yield contributing characters.
