摘要

South - eastern part of Madhya Predesh is popularly known as Chhattisgarh region and is primarily identified for rice cultivation during kharif. Double cropping is mostly practiced in the area by taking relay (utera) crops like pulses and oil seeds but its productivity is hardly more than 1/2 t ha~(-1). Winter maize is limited in few pockets of the region that too with progressive farmers only. Upto now no efforts have been made to explore the productivity potential of maize in winter season. Nitrogen deficiency affects the production and quality of cob in maize.
