摘要

India is the second largest producer of vegetables next to china in the world. The production of vegetables is adequate to provide hardly 120 g as against 300 g of vegetables required per day per adult. One of the main reasons attributed is non-availability of adequate quantity of quality seeds to produce enough vegetables. Therefore, there is an urgent need for augmenting the production of vegetable and vegetable" seeds to meet out the minimum needs as well as ensuring the nutritional security of the fast growing population. Green leafy vegetables contain most perfect combination of carbohydrate, protein, calcium, iron and vitamins.
