摘要

Rainfall is the most important weather element accounted for water resource planning. Though this carries such weightage, its variability in space and time pulls back the efficiency of planning. The processes of rainfall include the influence of many meteorological parameters and among them, solar radiation and its related parameters viz., temperature and relative humidity are critically important. Sowing, weeding and other intercultivation operations under dryland are mainly controlled by rainfallevents. Indian Meteorological Department issues short range forecast based on synoptic chart. Developing a location specific statistical model for predicting rainfall is a long day need. This was not done earlier because of non-availability of quality data in any places. With the availability of data from Department of Agricultural Meteorology, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, an attempt was made to develop a statistical model to predict daily rainfall based on the morning weather observation.
